Guilfoyle Ambulance Service hopes to be in its new home on Faichney Drive by the end of the month, according to David C. Sherman, general manager.

Plans are tentative, he said, but packing for a move from its facility on Newell Street is under way. Mr. Sherman said final touch-up work is nearing completion at the ambulance service’s future home, the former Covidien building, which was purchased from Tyco Health Care, Mansfield, Mass.

The new facility will include the Bruce M. Wright Convention Center, which already has been used for a craft fair and is booked for some weddings, Mr. Sherman said. Sixteen ambulances, four fly cars, six wheelchair vans and two CitiBus paratransit rigs will be housed in the motorpool section, he said.

Guilfoyle received loans from Watertown Local Development Corp., North Country Alliance and Community Bank for nearly $2 million for the company’s upgrade.
