A city resident was charged Friday night following a burglary and assault of a woman who had filed a protection order against him in November.

City police said Kevin J. Conroy, 21, of 22493 Colonial Manor Road, broke into the residence of Daytona Conroy, 117 William St., about 9:30 p.m. Friday, then punched Claude Loomis, of 213 Francis St., Apt. 2C, several times in the face, leaving significant swelling and bruising.

The actions violated an order of protection issued by Jefferson County Family Court.

Arrested at 10:22 p.m. Friday on the 600 block of State Street, he was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
