An Antwerp woman was killed Friday afternoon when her van collided with a truck at Route 11 and County Route 30 in the town of Philadelphia.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department identified the woman as Tammy E. Hand, 52, who was driving south on Route 11 about 12:35 p.m. when her 2010 Kia Sedona collided with a utility truck driven by Justin G. Mashaw, 24, also of Antwerp.
His vehicle also was traveling south and had stopped to make a left turn onto County Route 30, investigators said.
A section of Route 11, from North Main Street to Carpenter Road, was closed for about 2½ hours to clear the highway.
Mrs. Hand was the widow of Robert D. Hand, a popular Sackets Harbor high school English teacher who died Feb. 12, 2011, at age 50 of a pulmonary embolism.
