Zakiya Saunders scored 23 points as Carthage overcame a slow start to beat host Watertown, 46-31, in a Frontier League A Division girls basketball game on Thursday night at Case Middle School.
Saunders also contributed eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists for the Comets (2-3 overall, 2-2 league), who trailed 13-8 after one quarter but rallied for a 24-17 halftime lead.
Kendra Bates grabbed eight rebounds and Lexi Smith had three assists for Carthage.
Hannah Levines eight points led the Cyclones (1-3).
BOYS BASKETBALL
LOWVILLE 61, LAFARGEVILLE 46
Kyle Malik led all scorers with 26 points to lead the Red Raiders to a crossover win over the Red Knights in Lowville.
Kody Rosales chipped in with 12 points for Lowville (2-2), and Brian OConnor contributed 10 points.
Eric Doolittle scored 20 points for LaFargeville (1-5), and Tim Cramer had 12 points.
VOLLEYBALL
SANDY CREEK 3, A-P-W 0
Kylie Martin recorded 11 assists, 11 service points, four kills and four digs as the unbeaten Comets beat the Rebels 25-18, 25-14, 25-16 in a crossover match at Sandy Creek.
Michaela Martin added eight kills, eight digs and three aces for Sandy Creek (5-0).
Isabel Bray had four aces, five kills and three blocks and Viki White notched five assists, 10 assists, six digs and two kills.
For Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (3-4, 1-4), Rhiannon Wheeler had five aces and three digs.
LOWVILLE 3, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0
Erica Lucas provided 19 service points as the Red Raiders swept the Panthers 25-21, 25-12, 25-20 in C/D Division play at Belleville.
Alyssa Laribee generated 15 assists for Lowville (4-1), and Haley Riley had nine kills.
Whitney Maitland collected nine service points for Belleville Henderson (0-5).
SOUTH LEWIS 3, GENERAL BROWN 1
Heather Bates powered the Falcons with 22 service points, 10 aces and six kills as they beat the Lions 25-17, 25-9, 20-25, 25-7 in an interdivision game at Turin.
Tasha Ortlieb chipped in with 17 service points, five kills and four digs for South Lewis (3-2). Gabrielle Hartle had 10 service points and eight kills.
Sierra Bracewell led General Brown (1-4) with 18 digs and five service points, while Maggie Ambrose added 21 digs.
WRESTLING
SANDY CREEK 51, APW/PULASKI 33
Isaac Eisch (113 pounds), Ryan Wills (120) and Jared Williams (132) all notched pins in under a minute as the Comets won an interdivision matchup in Pulaski.
Justin Bonney (145), Mason McNitt (170) and Hunter Delamater (182) all won via fall for Sandy Creek (8-4, 1-1).
Travis Purdy (160) earned a win by fall for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown/Pulaski (2-11, 0-4).
BOYS SWIMMING
WATERTOWN 116, INDIAN RIVER 68
Michael Netto, Andrew Marilley and Joey Ongkingco each won two events and contributed to a pair of first-place relays during the host Cyclones FL A Division victory over the Warriors on Tuesday.
Netto won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke, Marilley took the 50 free and 100 backstroke, and Ongkingco captured the 200 free and 100 butterfly.
Andrew Keenan added a victory in the 500 free and swam on two fastest relays for Watertown (3-0).
