MASSENA - Emmanuel Congregational UCC will hold a “Blue Christmas Service” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 39 West Orvis St., Massena. You ask why blue? Certainly you have experienced what some call the “blues” at one time or another in your life. Christmas time is a season when not everyone feels cheerful or even joyful. Coping with the death of a loved one, facing your first holiday season after a recent divorce or loss of a job, living with chronic illness or pain, clinical depression or battling a disease such as cancer all make holiday parties and festivities painful for many in our congregation and surrounding communities.

They invite you to join in a time of worship to recognize those parts of our lives that make Christmas a bittersweet time of year. This worship offers a time to remember both persons and events that have been a part of our lives in the past, but are now changed or gone.
