POTSDAM — Innovative Delivery Systems, a startup that five Clarkson University students founded a year ago, placed third out of 30 teams at Wake Forest University’s recent “Retail Innovation Challenge — The Elevator Competition” in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The company, which won $2,000, has pioneered a system to let arena spectators order food and drinks from their seats using wireless devices such as smartphones.
