CANTON The St. Lawrence University board of trustees has settled on a location for a new dormitory.
The residence hall will be off the campuss quad, a grassy lawn near the Noble Center and the Gunnison Chapel. A parking lot and access road will be removed to make space for the new building.
University administrators hired Northland Associates of Liverpool as the general contractor for the estimated $12 million project.
The university raised about $3 million for the project and plans to raise the rest as needed.
Architecture firm Sacco & McKinney of Latham will design the new residence hall, which will house 150 students and is expected to be complete for the 2014 fall semester.
