The funeral for Wyona A. Watson, 85, Rome, was held Nov. 28 at Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 209 N. Washington St., Rome. Burial took place in Rome Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson died Nov. 25 at Bethany Gardens, 800 W. Chestnut St., Rome, where she lived for the past two years. She previously lived at 6150 Lowell Road, Rome.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and James R. Donnelly, Canton, and Renee and Bill Hoag of Lee; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Watson, Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronald and Beatrice Watson, Westmoreland and Timothy and Rebecca Watson, Oneida; 11 grandchildren, including James J. Donnelly, Massena, Colleen D. Logan, Canton and Michael P. Donnelly, Arlington, VA; 14 great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Regina Newey, Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Point Rock, daughter of the late Joseph and Iva Hatfield Newey. She married James A. Watson on April 12, 1947 in Rome. He died on Sept. 18, 1984.
She was a member of Lowell Methodist Church, Westlanders Senior Citizens and Pomona Grange. She was a poll worker on election day for many years and enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing crafts.
