Barbara Steinhouse, age 74, of Cape Vincent, NY passed away on December 1, 2012.
Barbara was born on December 12, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to Robert and Madeline (Alber) Steinhouse. She attended Marple-Newtown High School and graduated from St. Josephs University. Barbara worked in a variety of jobs and ended her working career at MBNA America in Wilmington, Delaware. Upon retirement in 2000, she moved to the Village of Cape Vincent and enjoyed living along the St. Lawrence River. She loved them all – including her current pets (Sport & Shrek). She generously donated a car to the Philadelphia Zoo for a raffle that raised money to rebuild the Primates House when it was destroyed in a terrible fire in 1995. She enjoyed reading, working on her computer, playing video games, gardening, and listening to music – and was a big fan of Lady Gaga. She was a Baltimore Ravens season ticketholder since 1996 and an Orioles fan in attendance when Cal Ripken played in his 2131st consecutive game, breaking Lou Gehrigs record in 1995.
Barbara is survived by her step sister Lisa Ottinger of Upper Black Eddy, PA; cousins Dorothy Alber Hickman, George Alber, Helen Alber Pitts and Linda Severance. She is beloved by her long-time friends, Bobby, Kathy, Vincent and Marcus Rando of Rising Sun Maryland and many other family members and friends.
