LOWVILLE — AJ Thomas won his match at 195 pounds by pinfall in 45 seconds as Lowville grabbed a Frontier League “C” Division wrestling victory over Beaver River, 68-11, on Tuesday.
Former longtime wrestling coaches Neal Aubel of Lowville and Wayne Ferguson of Beaver River were honored during the match. Both were inducted into the Upstate New York chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in September.
Conner Steria (113), Caleb Moyer (120), Shawn Widrick (126) and Tyler Bray (152) also scored pins for Lowville (5-1 overall, 2-0 league).
Isaiah Riccio (160) scored a technical fall for Beaver River (0-1). Travis Edwards won his match at 106 via pin.
INDIAN RIVER 48, IHC 28
Sonny McPherson won the 182-pound bout by pinning Jaden Grill in 1 minute, 16 seconds, to highlight the Warriors’ season-opening Frontier League “A” Division victory at Immaculate Heart Central.
Thomas Gitlin (220 pounds), DaQuan Brown (195), Dylan Crowder (160), and Nicholas Toutant (132) also won by pinfall for Indian River.
Nicholas Koelmel (152) led the Cavaliers by defeating Derrick Gray, 14-5. Cyrus Beckman (145) and Tristan Phillips (138) recorded pins for IHC.
SOUTH JEFFERSON 60, COPENHAGEN 28
The Spartans used four pinfalls and six forfeits to beat the Golden Knights in the season-opening interdivision dual meet for each team.
Jared Carroll (99 pounds), Jon Crast (138), Logan LaFlamme (182) and Ryan Charlebois (195) provided the pins for South Jefferson.
WATERTOWN 108, SOUTH JEFFERSON 73
Andrew Marilley and Joey Ongkingco each were a part of three winning events as the Cyclones earned a season-opening Frontier League “A” Division victory at Adams.
Marilley won the 500-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Ongkingco placed first in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay. Both swimmers were a part of the winning 200 medley relay.
Zack Porter won the 100 breaststroke for South Jefferson.
INDIAN RIVER 95, CARTHAGE 86
Ethan Klock won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and swam on two first-place relays to lead the Warriors to a season-opening “A” Division victory at Carthage.
Wenxuan Zhou captured the 200 free and 100 breaststroke and contributed to a winning relay for Indian River.
Andrew Benson claimed the 50 free and 100 backstroke for Carthage.
LOWVILLE 59, SOUTH LEWIS 36
Stephen Larche and Nicholas Turck each captured two events and contributed to a pair of fastest relays to lead the Red Raiders to a season-opening “B” Division victory at Lowville.
Larche won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races, while Turck claimed the 50 free and 100 butterfly.
Patrick Pominville was the top diver for South Lewis.
GENERAL BROWN 3, INDIAN RIVER 0
Maggie Ambrose turned in a complete effort with nine service points, five assists and five digs as the Lions swept the Warriors 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 for an interdivision win in Dexter.
Taylor Rossette contributed 10 service points and five kills for General Brown (1-1). Ashley Kampnich had seven service points and five kills.
Ingrid Langealen paced the Warriors with seven service points, three assists, two blocks and two kills for Indian River (0-2).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, APW 1
Jackie Decker finished with 21 assists and six aces as the Spartans captured a 25-18, 25-14, 21-25, 25-18 “B” Division victory at Adams.
Alex Mooney scored on 10 kills and five aces, while Janessa Vaadi recorded nine kills and two blocks, and Hannah Mullin hit seven kills for South Jefferson (3-0, 2-0).
Macey Kerr registered 10 kills, Emily Radley supplied five aces and nine assists, and Rhiannon Wheeler added eight assists for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (1-2, 0-2).
BEAVER RIVER 3, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0
Melissa Hunt collected 13 service points, seven kills and six aces as the Beavers swept the Panthers 25-16, 25-16, 25-14 for a “C” Division win in Beaver Falls.
Keegan Bowman added eight assists for Beaver River (3-0). Malori Mattimore had 10 service points.
Haley Contryman tallied five kills and two blocks for Belleville Henderson (0-3).
