MASSENA Patrons doing early morning shopping or exercise at St. Lawrence Centre mall now have a place to grab breakfast at the new St. Lawrence Cafe & Confections.
Owner Belle S. Bevins, who earlier this year also opened the Southside Diner on South Main Street, said the success shes seen there led her to open another location.
We are doing well down there, she said, so I figured I would try it out here too and offer different food than whats available.
In addition to breakfast, which is served until 11 a.m., the cafe offers chicken wings, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soups, salads and homemade desserts.
So far, Ms. Bevins said, Its been pretty good. We get a lot of mall employees who come here for lunch or dinner. What were hearing from them is they like that were serving real food and not fast food.
While the mall itself isnt open until 10 a.m. each day, Ms. Bevins said, her cafe is open at 8 a.m., noting that some of the anchor stores are open earlier and there are also people who walk in the mall each morning.
The eatery closes each night at the same time as the mall.
A new addition to the menu and something that Ms. Bevins said her customers have been asking for is subs.
Were going to start serving subs within the next week, she said. Right now you cant get subs in the mall.
The cafe also offers free Wi-Fi and dessert platters.
