Christopher A. Smith, 30, of 595 W. Prospect St., was arrested Wednesday after city police alleged he used excessive force in disciplining his 7-year-old son.

He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and awaits prosecution in City Court.

Police said that at about 10 p.m. Monday at 171 E. Hoard St., he forcibly grabbed his son’s face, leaving scratches on the youth’s neck.
