LOWVILLE The village has issued a reminder of winter-related restrictions.
It is illegal to park on village streets from 3 to 6 a.m. during the winter because plows must be able to drive through. Vehicles parked on the streets during these hours will be ticketed and may be towed at the owners expense.
Homeowners are responsible for removing snow and ice from their sidewalks. If after 48 hours of a snow event the sidewalk has not been cleared, the Department of Public Works will notify the owner, remove the snow and bill the homeowner for this service. The rate will be $50 per hour, with a one-hour minimum charge.
Residents are reminded it is illegal to plow, shovel or blow snow into the street. This creates an unsafe condition for traffic and has caused accidents.
