Wilma Rivers, formerly of 222 State Street, Carthage, NY died at Mercy Care Center of Northern New York, on November 21st. She was 92. She was born in Carthage, NY on June 4, 1920 to Clifford and Florence Besaw Covey. She attended school at the one room school house in Champion. She married Charles Thomas Rivers on June 7, 1938 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage, NY. Mrs. Rivers worked as a custodian at Augustinian Academy in Carthage, housekeeping dept. at Carthage Area Hospital and Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown. She enjoyed watching golf on TV, bingo, and loved the holidays with her family. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or Mercy Care of Northern NY. Surviving are her five sons and their wives: Thomas and Colleen Rivers of Carthage, Gary Rivers of Lowville, Charles and Donna Rivers, Carthage, Michael Rivers of Carthage, NY, Allen and Penny Rivers of Carthage, NY; her five daughters and sons in law: Evelyn Rivers of Syracuse, NY, Janet Rivers of Carthage, NY, Mrs. Tom (Janice) Moody, Edmond, OK, Mrs. Robert (Joanne) Sanders of Carthage, NY, Mrs. Bruce (Christine) Montgomery of Carthage, NY. Also surviving is a brother, Clifford Covey, Jr., of Carthage, NY, A sister, Marion Covey of Springdale, Arkansas, 31 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, neices, nephews, and cousins. Pre-deceased are her two daughters, Nancy Solozzo and Mary Crabbe, her three brothers, Robert, Carlton and Kenneth Covey, and three grandchildren: Michael J. Rivers, Jr., Allan J. Hunt, and Angela M. Rivers. There will be no calling hours. There will be a private graveside service for family on November 28th at St. James Cemetery in Carthage, NY at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are with TLC Funeral Home, Inc.
