City police on Friday afternoon charged a woman with cruelty to animals, alleging that her dog was malnourished.

Michelle L. Stevenson, 36, of 829 Water St., is summoned to City Court. Police accused her of failing to provide sufficient food and water for her dog at her residence. The situation was discovered early Friday afternoon, and police said the dog was found to be in such poor health that it was taken by a Jefferson County animal control officer to be given proper attention.
