Robert John “Bob” Klossner passed away suddenly Friday, November 8, 2012, at his home in Mimbres, New Mexico. He was born in Utica on May 8, 1945, to John Francis Klossner and Janice Elizabeth Klossner née Markham, and grew up on the family farm on Highmarket Road. He received a Bachelor’s of Science from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Bob was primarily a contractor and landscaper, specializing in recent years in post-and-beam construction. He is known for his work designing and constructing the Erwin Park Covered Bridge, as well as numerous homes and structures throughout Lewis and Oneida counties. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, loyalty, love of being outdoors, and uncanny ability to drive a nail with one swing of a hammer. He was a voracious reader and deeply knowledgeable about an array of topics, ranging from several of the sciences to the best area restaurants at which to meet friends.

He is survived by his father John (Constableville); his son Christian, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandson Joaquin (Washington, DC); his brothers and sisters-in-law Alan and Nancy (Highmarket), Ronald and Susan (Green Bay, WI), and Jack (North Syracuse). He also leaves behind many close friends who loved him dearly.

A private ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 24, to be followed by a 4:00 p.m. public gathering at the Alpine Restaurant in Constableville, where all will be welcome to share their thoughts, memories, and stories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Constableville Volunteer Fire Company, Main St., Constableville, NY, 13325, or to the Tunn Tavern Leathernecks Museum, P.O. Box 1775, Boonville, NY 13309.
