LOWVILLE A nine-month old girl airlifted to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, has died from injuries suffered in a Tuesday morning car-buggy crash.
Names of the baby girl who suffered head and internal injuries and her mother, operator of the buggy, are being withheld, according to Undersheriff James M. Monnat.
The accident, which occurred about 7:50 a.m. on Route 12 near Vary Road in the town of Harrisburg, still is under investigation and charges are pending.
Primary cause would be driver inattention, Mr. Monnat stated.
The driver of the motor vehicle, Lacey E. Northrup, 27, Lowville, was uninjured in the accident.
The driver of the buggy suffered a minor leg injury. The horse had to be euthanized by staff from Countryside Veterinary Clinic.
Sheriffs deputies were assisted at the scene by Mercy Flight Central, state police, Lewis County Search and Rescue and the Lowville Fire Department.
