Watertown police arrested a man Sunday night on allegations that he threatened a woman with a chef’s knife in their unit at EconoLodge, 1030 Arsenal St.

Norman W. Bachtler Jr., 47, no other address provided, placed the 10-inch blade knife on a night stand next to Patricia A. Shea and is claimed to have told her, “Kill me or I will kill you,” according to police.

He was charged with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and was detained for arraignment Monday in City Court. Police said he has two criminal convictions in New Jersey, so it is illegal for him to possess a weapon.
