CANTON — The top-seeded Canton girls soccer team had to score two goals in overtime to get past No. 4 Norwood-Norfolk in a Section 10 Class C semifinal Thursday.
The 2-0 win puts Canton (11-5-1 overall) into the title game against No. 3 Tupper Lake at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Massena High School.
Emma Rexford scored first for Canton in the 86th minute and Lindsay Proulx, who assisted on Rexford's goal, made it 2-0 on a direct kick in the 94th minute. Hilary Wilcox and Katie Clemmer combined for three saves in the shutout and Makayla Frego stopped 12 shots for the Flyers (7-9-1).
TUPPER LAKE 2, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 1
Lauren Brock scored an unassisted goal to help Tupper Lake upset the No. 2 Panthers (12-5) in a Class C semifinal in Brushton.
Kendra Mills gave Brushton-Moira a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 11th minute, but Katie Stuart tied it for the Lumberjacks (8-6) in the 49th minute.
POTSDAM 3, SALMON RIVER 0
Nettie Rishe, Ally Miller and Abby Gruneisen scored goals in the first half to lead the No. 1 Sandstoners past No. 4 Salmon River (3-12-2) in a Class B semifinal in Potsdam.
Potsdam (8-6-2) will play No. 3 Gouverneur for the title at 3 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Canton. Jenny Tardelli made eight saves for the shutout.
GOUVERNEUR 2, OFA 1 (OT)
Kirsten Roberts scored in the 83rd minute to give Gouverneur an overtime win over the No. 2 Blue Devils (5-6-5) in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
Danielle McCormick scored for Gouverneur (4-9-4), and Nikki Holmes tied the game for OFA.
COLTON-PIERREPONT 2,
HERMON-DEKALB 1 (OT)
Madison Gregg scored both goals, including the game-winner in the 98th minute, as No. 9 Colton-Pierrepont defeated the No. 8 Demons (9-8) in a Class D first-round game in DeKalb Junction.
The Colts (5-10-1) will travel to play No. 1 Chateaugay in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Saturday. Kasey O'Donnell scored for the Demons.
LISBON 8, MORRISTOWN 0
Four players each scored two goals as the No. 4 Golden Knights crushed No. 13 Morristown (0-15) in a Class D first-round game in Lisbon.
Lisbon (12-3-2) will face No. 5 Hammond in a quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clarkson University.
Maddison Vine, Alex Amo, Emily Disha and Gabby Walker each scored twice for Lisbon.
HAMMOND 4, ST. REGIS FALLS 1
Tayler Bowman scored two goals for the Red Devils in a Class D first-round win over No. 12 St. Regis Falls (0-16) in Hammond.
Brooklyn Haverstock and Courtney Bova also scored for Hammond (11-5), and Brianna Langtry made six saves for the shutout.
MADRID-WADDINGTON 5, EDWARDS-KNOX 0
A two-goal effort from Olivia Parmeter helped the No. 5 Yellow Jackets defeat No. 11 Edwards-Knox (3-14) in a Class D first-round game in Madrid.
Madrid-Waddington (9-6-2) will travel to play No. 3 Heuvelton in a quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Saturday. Mary Young, Katie Marcellus and Alison Fobare also scored for Madrid-Waddington.
HARRISVILLE 2, CLIFTON-FINE 0
Hannah Weaver and Kathleen Coloney provided the goals as the No. 7 Pirates defeated No. 10 Clifton-Fine (2-12) in a Class D first-round contest in Harrisville.
Harrisville (11-5-1) will travel to play No. 2 Parishville-Hopkinton in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Saturday.

POTSDAM 5, GOUVERNEUR 0
Nnaebuka Ononeye and Ian Vitek each scored two goals as No. 1 Potsdam defeated No. 4 Gouverneur (1-12-2) in a Class B semifinal in Potsdam.
Potsdam (11-3-1) will face No. 2 OFA for the championship at 5 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Canton.
OFA 3, SALMON RIVER 0
Peyton Lalone scored two goals and assisted on a goal from Conor Hannan to lead the Blue Devils past No. 3 Salmon River (3-11-2) in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg. Jacob Sias made eight saves for the Blue Devils (7-5-4).

Bryant Wentworth scored two goals and assisted on another as the No. 1 Golden Bears defeated No. 4 Norwood-Norfolk (2-14) in a Class C semifinal in Canton.
Canton (8-4-4) will face No. 2 Brushton-Moira for the title at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Massena.
Jake Watson, Jacob Oatman, Francesco Palumbo and Adam Lawrence also scored for Canton.
BRUSHTON-MOIRA 2, ST. LAWRENCE 1 (OT)
Lauren Traynor scored in the second minute of overtime to lead the Panthers past No. 3 St. Lawrence Central (4-10-2) in a Class C semifinal in Brushton.
Traynor also scored for the Panthers (11-4-2). Ian Lynch scored for the Larries.
PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 4, MORRISTOWN 2
Jordan Dishaw scored two goals as the No. 8 Panthers (9-6-2) took a 4-0 lead at halftime and went on to defeat No. 9 Morristown in a Class D first-round game in Parishville.
Parishville-Hopkinton will travel to play No. 1 Lisbon in a quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Kyle Strader and Logan Johns also scored for the Panthers. Dakota Marshall and Ryan Volmer scored for Morristown (6-7-2).

Gyle Dominy scored twice as the No. 4 Colts beat No. 13 Clifton-Fine (1-14) in a Class D first-round game in South Colton.
Colton-Pierrepont (11-5-1) will host another game at 3 p.m. Saturday against No. 5 Harrisville in a quarterfinal.
Andrew Harcourt also scored for the Colts.
HARRISVILLE 5, HAMMOND 1
Joey Butts's two goals lifted the Pirates (13-5) past No. 12 Hammond in a Class D first-round game in Harrisville.
Tim Fowler, Nathan Weaver and Nick Weir also scored for Harrisville. Tristan Simons scored for Hammond (2-14).
EDWARDS-KNOX 8, ST. REGIS FALLS 2
Chris Davison scored three goals and Nic Davison added two as the No. 6 Cougars defeated No. 11 St. Regis Falls (2-15-1) in Russell.
Edwards-Knox (11-5-1) will travel to play No. 3 Chateaugay in a quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Saturday.
MADRID-WADDINGTON 6, HERMON-DEKALB 0
Jeff Mott scored twice as the No. 7 Yellow Jackets blanked No. 10 Hermon-DeKalb (4-13) in a Class D first-round game in Madrid.
Madrid-Waddington (10-6-2) will travel to play No. 2 Heuvelton in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Saturday. Randy Ball, Greg Tompson, Jacob Barney and Colin O'Bryan also scored for Madrid-Waddington.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
CANTON, POTSDAM TAKE TITLES
Canton's Laura Pierce had the best overall time, finishing the 5-kilometer course at the Gouverneur Country Club in 20 minutes, 15.7 seconds, as the Golden Bears easily claimed the Section 10 Class B title.
Canton had the top four runners as Pierce was followed by Maria Ricalson, and Gemma and Becca DelRossi. Malone was second with 45 points.
Potsdam, led by individual winner Madi Dow, claimed the Class C title with 22 points and Norwood-Norfolk had the only complete team in Class D, as well as individual winner Kaycie Saucier.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
HUSKIES, WILDCATS WIN
Malone's Connor Gordon set a course record of 17:01.7 to lead the Huskies to the Class B title at the Section 10 meet in Gouverneur. The Huskies had the top seven finishers and Malone's Morgan Marlow was second in 17:08.5.
Gouverneur claimed the Class C title with 24 points, led by a second-place showing from Luke Dunkelberg. Potsdam was second with 40 points, but had individual winner Ethan Vinson.
Norwood-Norfolk also scored 24 points to win the Class D title with Kyle Fulk taking individual honors.
VOLLEYBALL
SALMON RIVER 3, CANTON 0
Nicole Smoke scored 11 service points and added 10 assists as No. 1 Salmon River earned a 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 win over No. 4 Canton (11-5) in a Class C semifinal in Fort Covington.
The Shamrocks (13-4) will play No. 2 Potsdam (11-5) in the title match at 3 p.m. Tuesday at SUNY Canton.
POTSDAM 3, OFA 2
Brittany Barr scored 17 points and Felicia Barr added 17 digs for the No. 3 Blue Devils (9-7) in a 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20 loss to the Sandstoners in Potsdam. Potsdam's stats were not provided.
EDWARDS-KNOX 3, TUPPER LAKE 0
Nicole Hendricks scored 21 points and added six kills, leading No. 2 Edwards-Knox (6-10) to a 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of No. 3 Tupper Lake (3-12) in a Class D semifinal in Russell.
Edwards-Knox will face No. 1 Chateaugay (16-0), which swept No. 4 Madrid-Waddington (2-14), in Tuesday's 5 p.m. title match at SUNY Canton.
GIRLS SWIMMING
FAVRET STARS FOR WHS
Samantha Favret captured the 50- freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, setting school and league records, at the Section 3 Class B Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse.
Favret's time of 58.91 seconds in the 100 backstroke was a school and Frontier League record, while her 50 free time of 24.88 set a league mark.
She also swam on the second-place 400 free relay, with a league-record time of 3:51.88, and the second-place 200 medley relay.
Brittney Thesier won the 200 freestyle and contributed to Watertown's 400 free relay, while Julia Marilley and Bree Jefferds also swam legs on the 400 free relay.
Watertown coach Lori Peters had 18 girls qualify for sectionals this season, which is the best representation she's had at sectional competition during her 19-year coaching career.
The Class C championships will be held today, and the state qualifier is scheduled for Saturday at Nottingham.
