State Sen. Patty Ritchie's campaign released a commercial a week before the Nov. 6 election touting her work with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Mrs. Ritchie, a Republican, has basically run an entire campaign on her work with Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat.
Contrast that with Mrs. Ritchie's opponent, Democrat Amy Tresidder, whose own campaign commercial said she'd work with U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, congressional candidate (?) Dan Maffei, and Assemblywoman Addie Russell — all Democrats. It was an interesting tactic in a district that was once and may still be the most heavily Republican by registration in the state.
Mr. Cuomo, a first-term governor, is popular among all demographic groups in the state. And Republicans don't seem to mind. It's a tactic that a great many New York Republicans are employing.
Mr. Cuomo has endorsed two Republicans for state Senate — one of whom has dropped out. He hasn't weighed in one way or the other on the Ritchie-Tresidder race. Voters go to the polls on Nov. 6.
