Clarkson has four former players competing in the American Hockey League as the 2012-13 season begins: goalie David Leggio (Rochester), forwards Steve Zalewski (Albany) and Brandon DeFazio (Bridgeport) and defenseman Mark Borowiecki (Ottawa).

In his second year with Rochester, which is the top farm club of the Buffalo Sabres, Leggio has become a starter this season and got the chance to play in Buffalo on Tuesday night and made 36 saves to lead Rochester to a 3-1 win over Hamilton.
