ITHACA A strong first period helped lead the second-ranked Cornell University womens hockey team to a 5-1 victory over St. Lawrence University in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Lynah Rink.
The Big Red (2-1 overall) scored three goals on just six shots in the first period and avenged a 3-1 loss to the Saints in the same building last March 3 in the ECAC Hockey championship game. All three Cornell goals came in a span of 59 seconds.
Emily Fulton led Cornell with two goals, Brianne Jenner, Emily Fulton, Anna Zorn and Alyssa Gagliardi each scored one goal with one assist.
Rylee Smith scored for the Saints (0-5).
