FORT COVINGTON The Canton girls cross country team featured the top three finishers, led by Laura Pierce, and cruised to the team title at the Northern Athletic Conference championship meet Tuesday at Salmon River.
Pierce finished the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 28.7 seconds. She was followed by teammates Maria Ricalton and Gemma DelRossi. Pierce and Ricalton qualified for the Federation Meet as well. Potsdams Madison Dow finished in fourth and Cantons Lauren Orosz was fifth.
The Golden Bears finished with 20 points and Malone was second with 60, with Potsdam coming in third with 86.
MALONE BOYS DOMINATE
The Huskies placed six runners in the top 10 and won the NAC meet at Salmon River convincingly with a total of 18 points. Gouverneur was second with 81.
Malone featured the top three finishers, led by Conor Gordon. Morgan Marlow was second and Corey Lamere third. Potsdams Ethan Vinson took fourth and Malones Rourk Marlow was fifth.
Gordon and Morgan Marlow also qualified for the Federation Meet.
GIRLS SWIMMING
MASSENA 55, OFA 39
Emily Hurlbut finished first in two events to lead the Red Raiders (9-1) in an NAC meet in Massena.
Hurlbut won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 freestyle for the Red Raiders. Susie Morrow won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke for the Blue Devils (7-4).
CANTON 113, POTSDAM 57
Angelina Domena won two events to help the Golden Bears defeat the Sandstoners (3-8) in Canton. Domena won the 50 and 100 freestyles for Canton (10-0).
ST. LAWRENCE 51, GOUVERNEUR 39
Shannon Ramsdell was a two-event winner as the Larries edged the Wildcats (1-10) in Brasher Falls. Ramsdell earned wins in the 200 and 500 freestyles for the Larries (8-3-1).
MALONE 89, EDWARDS-KNOX 59
Two victories by Isabella Lucia helped Malone defeat Edwards-Knox (3-8) in Russell. Lucia won the 200 and 500 freestyles for Malone (6-4-1).
VOLLEYBALL
OFA 3, GOUVERNEUR 0
Olivia Bender provided 12 assists to lead the Blue Devils to a 25-17, 25-8, 25-12 sweep of the Wildcats (2-11) in an NAC match in Ogdensburg.
Brittany Barr scored 10 service points, and Felicia Barr added eight for the Blue Devils (9-5).
CANTON 3, MADRID-WADDINGTON 1
Rachel Sanderson tallied 12 points as the Golden Bears produced a 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-10 win over the Yellow Jackets (1-12) in Madrid.
Sara Sanger and Beth Pearson each had nine points for Canton (9-4).
