Either this is a campaign that's not resting on its laurels, or it's a campaign that doesn't think it's going to win by 14 points.

Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, launched mattdohenyfacts.com today, with a timeline of Republican Matt Doheny's work on Wall Street and in New York City. The website rehashes claims about Mr. Doheny's work for a company based in the Cayman Islands. It also attempts to portray him as out of touch because he owns two islands.

Mr. Doheny says: Why hate on a north country guy who worked hard, did well and came back home? He also puts the claims in context by noting that he grew up in Alexandria Bay, and that he didn't make the decision to base part of Fintech Advisory in the Cayman Islands.

Mr. Owens says: Mr. Doheny doesn't have north country values.

There's a subtle, probably intentional subtext to a television ad associated with the website, too. It encourages viewers to put Mr. Doheny's name through the Google search engine.

On my computer, some of the top search results are stories about the gossip stories about a photograph of Mr. Doheny appearing to kiss a campaign consultant who was not his fiancee (now his wife). Mr. Doheny said that the encounter was merely an embrace between old friends.
