Republican Matt Doheny's campaign is out with its third television ad this week assailing Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh.
This one criticizes Mr. Owens for three votes. The first is the REINS Act. The REINS Act would require Congress to vote up or down on any regulation that significantly affects the economy. Mr. Owens has said that it would drastically tip the balance of power from the executive to the legislative.
The second was Mr. Owens' vote against the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act, which would have made it easier to drill for oil in Alaska.
And the third was Mr. Owens' vote in favor of the Affordable Care Act, which included a 2.3 percent excise tax on medical device manufacturers. Mr. Owens has since signed on to a bill to repeal that tax, but it's unlikely to become law.
The election is Nov. 6.
