FORT DRUM Air National Guard members will conduct live-fire training at the posts Joint Air to Ground range complex from today until Thursday to prepare for future support missions.
According to a release from the state Division of Military and Naval Affairs, training will include both afternoon and evening events. The training will include F-16 aircraft and crews from New Jerseys 177th Fighter Wing and the Vermont Air National Guards 158th Fighter Wing, who are readying for an overseas deployment.
Several ground crews will also be on hand to designate targets.
The division said residents who live near the range may notice the noise of bombs, as cooler temperatures are a better conductor of sound.
Similar training is currently scheduled to occur from Sept. 18-21 and Sept. 25-27.
Additional training at the range also include pilot training for crews of the 174th Attack Wing, which is scheduled to run from Monday through Thursdays for an unspecified period of time. During this period, practice bombs are dropped on the range.
People with more specific questions about the range training are asked to call the gunnery range at 1-800-228-3567.
