Doheny pledges to work with Obama if president is re-elected

A snippet from my story this morning on Sen. Patty Ritchie's praise for Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo that deserves its own post: Republican Matt Doheny pledges that he'll work with a Democratic presidential administration.

“Am I supporting and endorsing Mitt Romney? You betcha,” Mr. Doheny said, referring to President Barack Obama’s Republican opponent on Nov. 6. “But if the current president becomes president of the United States (again), I will work in a very cooperative manner with President Obama to make sure we maximize economic opportunities here in the north country. If I had the same playbook as Patty, would I run the same plays? Yeah.”

Mr. Doheny's opponent, Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, touts his bipartisan bona fides, too. As the Adirondack Daily Enterprise's Chris Morris reported in March, Republican Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward supports Mr. Owens. So does Moriah Supervisor Tom Scozzafava — no relation to former Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, a Republican who also supports Mr. Owens.

I don't know of any major Democratic endorsements for Mr. Doheny, but that's to be expected in an incumbent-challenger situation.
