A few things of note in this video I took of Republicans Matt Doheny and Sen. Patty Ritchie opening an office in Ogdensburg on Saturday. I've linked to the parts in the video that I'm noting, but you can watch the whole thing in full below.
There's one city in St. Lawrence County, but the county's GOP chairwoman, Nancy Martin, got it mixed up with the only city in Jefferson County, Watertown.
When introducing the dignitaries, Ms. Martin said: "Also with us today, Mayor Graham... oh, I did that again... Mayor Bill Nelson!"
Mayor Jeff Graham is the mayor of our fair city of Watertown, but did not attend the event. Mr. Nelson is the mayor of Ogdensburg, whom
In fairness to Ms. Martin, she had only recently returned from an exhausting trip to Tampa, Fla., for the Republican National Convention.
Mr. Doheny, the Republican candidate against Democratic Rep. Bill Owens on Nov. 6, and Mrs. Ritchie present Ms. Martin with a bouquet of flowers. Ms. Martin is stepping down from the helm of the county Republican Party after a successful turn at the helm. Fred Bean, the Ogdensburg city chairman, has been mentioned as a possible replacement.
Mrs. Ritchie speaks. She talks about her working relationship with Gov. Andrew Cuomo and about the progress the state has made when compared with the federal government.
Mr. Doheny speaks. He talks about the high unemployment rate and how change is needed in Washington. He also said, "All politics is local talking," instructing attendees to speak to their friends about his campaign.
