Hundreds of new Jefferson Community College students began the fall semester Monday.
New students who signed up early have been through at least one of nine orientation sessions that were held during the summer. Students were given a tour of campus and shown how to access campus security. Information about advisers, counselors and other support services was shared. M
As of Friday, the college calculated 3,636 full-time and part-time students to be enrolled. By the end of the first day of classes last year, 3,711 students were enrolled. According to officials 35.5 percent of the student body, compared with last year’s 32.6 percent, is either active duty or related to someone who is.
This semester, students can choose from 69 online courses, hundreds of sit-in courses and new higher education degrees from St. John Fisher College, Rochester, and SUNY Cobleskill.
Other new sights are technology related. Last week, the college changed its website layout. The student portal also was changed to match the website.
