A town of Watertown man faces up to five years in state prison after admitting Wednesday in Jefferson County Court that he was driving while intoxicated when he caused an accident that killed his neighbor in July 2011.
Kristian M. Loftus, 36, of 20740 Hadcock Road, pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter, the top count of a three-count grand jury indictment handed up in May. He admitted that he was driving while intoxicated July 15, 2011, on Hadcock Road when he caused an accident that resulted in the death of Richard S. Scott Sample, 52, of 21019 Hadcock Road, who was operating a motorcycle.
Mr. Loftus is expected to be sentenced Oct. 29 to 1 2/3 to 5 years in prison.
