DWI - PIERREPONT - Canton-based state police charged Edward S. Thompson, 51, of 551 Orebed Road, Colton, with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by drugs following an incident at 2:25 a.m. Sunday on state Route 56 in the town of Pierrepont. He was also ticketed for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to keep right.

Troopers said they responded to reports of an erratic driver and located Thompson on Route 56. Their investigation revealed he had struck several mailboxes. Thompson reportedly admitted to troopers that he had taken prescription drugs including Valium and Diazepam.

He was arraigned by Potsdam Town Justice Samuel R. Charleson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Thompson had been charged Aug. 12 with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle when troopers were investigating an erratic motorcyclist complaint in the town of Norfolk. They located Thompson at Fefee’s Market.

TRESPASS - MASSENA - Village police charged three men Sunday in connection with a vandalism incident Aug. 14 at Alex’s Glass in Massena.

Village police charged Steven D. LaClair, 20, of 100 Water St., Massena; Joshua J. Love, 21, of 81 Chase St., Massena; and James C. Delosh, 18, of 168 Jefferson Ave., Massena; with trespassing. Delosh was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for throwing a rock through the window at the business at 1:08 a.m. Aug. 14. The estimate for the window repair is $128.40.

Delosh, in a statement he provided to police, said the three men went to the cemetery and then cut over to George Street by Alex’s Glass. He said he and LaClair had been drinking Twisted Teas.

He said LaClair threw a Twisted Tea bottle at Jessica Dobbin’s house. Delosh said he then threw a rock at the window at Alex’s Glass.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - MASSENA - Village police charged Nicholas J. Sovie, 23, of 1844 County Route 38, Norfolk, and Alan Green, 20, of 42 Grant St., Massena, with disorderly conduct at 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Andrews Street. Police said the two men were engaged in an altercation outside the Delmar Tavern.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Tina M. Dafoe, 41, of Post Road, Canton, with operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of a vehicle with no insurance following a traffic stop at 4:05 p.m. Sunday on East Hatfield Street.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Jileen Shilo, 38, of North Lawrence with operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration and ticketed her for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 5:50 p.m. Sunday on East Hatfield Street.

TRESPASSING - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Chelsey M. Streeter, 18, of Canton with trespassing Sunday morning at 456 Pollack Road in the town of Potsdam. Troopers said the charge stemmed from an incident at 9:36 p.m. July 2 in the town of Massena.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Brittany E. Johnson, 27, of Freeman Road, Waddington, with operation of a suspended registration and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Andrews Street.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged Braden R. Seidel, 20, of 925 Drum St., Fort Covington, with unlawful possession of marijuana at 10:10 p.m. Saturday on West Hatfield Street.

SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Michael J. Kasyjanski. 51, of Powers Road, Constable, for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 10:41 p.m. Saturday on East Hatfield Street.

INADEQUATE EXHAUST - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Dennis J. Stephenson Jr., 18, of Barker Road, Potsdam, for operation of a vehicle with an inadequate exhaust following a traffic stop at 11 p.m. Friday on Willow Street.

OPEN CONTAINER - MASSENA - Village police charged John R. Vancor, 44, of 55 Victory Road, Massena, with an open container violation at 1:55 a.m. Saturday on Church Street.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - WEST STOCKHOLM - Massena-based state police investigated a property damage accident at 8:30 p.m. Sunday om Route 11, near Old Market Road, in the town of Stockholm. Troopers said the vehicle was operated by Michael J. Almond, 52, of Brushton.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - ST. REGIS FALLS - Malone-based state police investigated a property damage accident at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on the Lake Ozonia Road, near Route 458, in the town of Waverly. Troopers said the vehicle was operated by Thomas D. Hyde, 56, of Massena.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - POTSDAM - Village police charged Michael J. Brock, 25, of Potsdam with disorderly conduct following an incident at 2:26 a.m. Sunday on Elm Street. Police said Brock was involved in an altercation with another male at La Casbah. He was released on an appearance ticket.

MOVING FROM LANE - POTSDAM - A Moira man was ticketed for moving from his lane unsafely after he struck an Amish buggy Sunday on Route 11 in the town of Potsdam.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies said George Manning, 33, of 152 County Route 17, Moira, was traveling northeast on Route 11 when he crossed the white line and struck an Amish buggy being operated by John Glick, 39, of 66 Brooklyn Road, Lawrenceville.

ASSAULT - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Eric D. Terrance, 49, of Hogansburg with third-degree assault and third-degree menacing following a complaint filed with troopers at 7:15 a.m. Saturday from the town of Massena. He allegedly repeatedly punched cab driver Thomas Curran while inside Mr. Curran’s taxi.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Samantha R. Green, 21, of Akwesasne, Que., with unlawful possession of marijuana. The marijuana was located during a secondary inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at 3:20 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Arthur T. Lilley. 38, of Gouverneur with petit larceny Saturday following an investigation into a complaint received at noon Aug. 11 from the town of Lawrence. He reportedly stole tools from Edward McGraw Trucking, North Lawrence.

BURGLARY - MOIRA - Malone-based state police charged Jacoby J. Perry, 17, of Brushton with second-degree burglary Saturday evening stemming from a complaint received at 7:09 p.m. Aug. 16 from the town of Moira. Troopers had charged Perry with unlawful possession of marijuana Friday afternoon at 1 Pitt St. in the town of Moira.

TRESPASSING - FORT COVINGTON - Malone-based state police charged Faith J. Boyea, 55, of Fort Covington with trespassing and two counts of second-degree harassment following a complaint made to troopers at 3:18 p.m. Saturday from the town of Fort Covington.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MOIRA - Malone-based state police charged Darrell R. Davenport, 17, of Moira with unlawful possession of marijuana at 3:18 p.m. Saturday from the town of Fort Covington.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - CONSTABLE - Malone-based state police charged Nathan A. Bigtree, 24, of Hogansburg with criminal mischief (damage greater than $250) following an incident at 12:37 a.m. Saturday on Route 30 in the town of Constable.

AGGRAVATED DWI - LOUISVILLE - Massena-based state police charged Debbie M. Green, 29, of Richville with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law and driving while ability impaired by drugs following a traffic stop at 12:53 p.m. Friday on state Route 37 in the town of Louisville.

Green was reportedly intoxicated and had two children, ages 3 1/2 and 14 months, in the vehicle she was operating at the time of the traffic stop. She was also ticketed for moving from lane unsafely and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Green was initially stopped by U.S. Border Patrol agent in the Stewart’s parking lot after the agent reportedly observed her vehicle swerving on Route 56. She was turned over to state police. No blood alcohol content or information about the drug she allegedly had taken was included in the court paperwork. She was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released on her own recognizance to appear Sept. 5 in Louisville Town Court.

DWI - WINTHROP - Massena-based state police charged George F. Ryan, 60, of North Lawrence with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 10:59 p.m. Friday on state Route 420 in the town of Stockholm. He was also ticketed for failure to keep right and failure to use designated lane.

OBSTRUCTION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Carissa R. Kirkey, 22, of Massena with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration after she allegedly interfered with their efforts to take Christopher J. Kocienski, 39, of Massena into custody at 12:30 p.m. Friday at 49 Brighton St.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - FOWLER - Gouverneur-based state police investigated a two-vehicle property damage accident at 12:53 p.m. Friday on state Route 812, near Route 58, in the town of Fowler. Troopers said the vehicles were operated by Rodney F. Cardinell, 29, of Gouverneur and Mostafa Elghissassi, 50, of Massena.

MENACING - POTSDAM - Village police charged Jeffrey A. Dihrberg, 21, of Canton with second-degree menacing and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use at 1:22 a.m. Saturday on Elm Street. Police said Dihrberg was involved in an altercation on Elm Street near La Casbah and threatened another subject with a knife. Dihrberg was released on an appearance ticket.

DWI - WADDINGTON - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Shawn A. McGowan, 30, of Brewster, Maine, formerly of Potsdam, with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop early Sunday morning on state Route 37 in the town of Waddington. He was also ticketed for moving from lane unsafely. McGowan had a reported blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Eileen A. Young, 65, 2663 Route 310, Madrid with petit larceny at 1:13 p.m. Friday.

Young allegedly shoplifted $81 worth of clothes and toys from the JC Penney store at the St. Lawrence Centre mall.

She is scheduled to appear in Massena Town Court.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - A Norwood-area man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation following a two-vehicle collision Friday on state Route 345 in the town of Potsdam.

Canton-based state police said Bradley M. Waite, 29 of 1400 Old Market Rd., Norwood was northbound on state Route 345 and attempted to make a left turn into driveway on opposite side of road, failing to realize that a southbound car driven by Anne C. Gerhard, 64 of 374 Halfway House Road, Waddington, was coming over the hill crest. Troopers said Gerhard attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid striking Waite’s vehicle.

Gerhard complained of chest pain and was transported by Potsdam Rescue to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for further evaluation. Waite signed off on receiving any medical treatment at the scene.

A check of Waite’s license showed that he had four suspensions. Waite was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, arraigned by Potsdam Town Justice Sam Charleson and bail was set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond.

ENDANGERING THE WELFARE - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies have charged Shaka Johns, 31, of 6346 County Route 27, Canton, with unlawful possession of marijuana and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation into an incident that took place Aug. 14. Deputies and Canton Rescue responded to a complaint of a 14-year-old female semi-conscious on the ground. The investigation revealed Johns had provided marijuana to two 14-year-old females at her residence.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - POTSDAM - Village police charged Mark V. Hodgkins Jr., 29, of Potsdam with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and ticketed him for operating a vehicle with an inadequate exhaust following a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Friday on Main Street.

DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Shane J. Grant, 27, of Ogdensburg with driving while intoxicated and ticketed him for illegally passing a red light following a traffic stop at 12:32 a.m. Friday on Market Street. Police said they observed Grant traveling south on Market Street and passing through a red light at the intersection of Sandstone Drive. A traffic stop was initiated, and Grant was found to be intoxicated. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, the minimum threshold for a DWI charge in New York state.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - POTSDAM - Village police charged Justin J. MacDonald, no age or address available, with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and ticketed him for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk at 11:06 a.m. Friday following a traffic stop on Pierrepont Avenue. Police said they made the stop after observing MacDonald fail to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk on Main Street. They said a routine DMV check of the operator revealed MacDonald’s operating privileges were suspended.

ATTEMPTED ASSAULT - MASSENA - Village police charged Patrick R. Foster, 46, of 3 Bishop St., Massena, with third-degree attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child following an incident at 11:18 p.m. Friday at his residence. Foster was reportedly upset his son wouldn’t get off the telephone so he struck him with a 46-pound weight bar. His son was evaluated at Massena Memorial Hospital and released. Foster was held for an arraignment in local court.

Ptl. Mark Englert, in a statement included in court papers, said Foster’s 16-year-old son declined to make a statement but Foster admitted he had been in an altercation with his son.

“He stated tonight he went to his son’s room to have his son stop using the telephone and to clean his room. He stated his son refused both orders. He stated he then went to grab for the telephone. He stated that he and his son struggled for the phone,” Ptl. Englert noted in his statement.

“He stated that during the struggle he was inadvertently struck in the chin. He stated he was then kicked in the abdomen by his son. He stated he then grabbed an Olympic weight and struck his son with the bar,” he added.

The village patrolman’s statement indicated Foster’s son had provided a similar account of the incident. The teenager told police he was on the phone with his girlfriend when his father entered his bedroom and demanded he get off the phone and clean his room.

“He stated he refused because his father changes the rules all the time, and he does not know what is expected of him from day to day,” Ptl. Englert wrote.

He said the teenager told him his father had charged at him to grab the telephone and fell on his son.

“He stated he used his legs and pushed his father in the abdomen with his legs to get him off. He stated his father then grabbed a 45-pound Olympic weight bar and attempted to strike him with it,” he added.

Ptl. Englert’s report indicated the teenager put his left arm up to protect himself and was struck by the weight bar in the left forearm.

STALKING - MASSENA - Village police charged Amanda L. Savage, 24, of 190 Center St., Apt. 3, Massena, with fourth-degree stalking and second-degree harassment at 1:37 p.m. Friday. She reportedly had been following and threatening Donna Doman with bodily harm. Ms. Doman told police Savage has been harassing her for several months.

LEAVING THE SCENE - MASSENA - Village police charged Matthew L. Gardner, 45, of 113 Woodlawn Ave., Massena, with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operation of a vehicle with no insurance and unsafe backing Friday following a property damage accident Aug. 12 on Pleasant Street. Gardner reportedly backed into a vehicle registered to Kenneth Waite and then left the scene.
