I hope these debates go more smoothly than the preparation for the debates.
Ignore everything I said before. Throw it out. Forget it.
Here's what's happening.
Republican Matt Doheny's congressional campaign sent out a news release on Wednesday accepting three debates.
His opponent, Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, accepted one of them — though you wouldn't have known that from the statement sent out by his campaign, which made it seem as of the Doheny campaign had totally sprung this on them. They knew about one debate, but didn't say so originally. Ten point deduction for that one.
Anyhow, that first debate will happen on Sept. 25 in at the Queensbury High School auditorium.
The other two proposed debates are up in the air, including the debate in Watertown, according to Mike Whittemore, a YNN producer who was helping organize it.
The Owens campaign is all like, Well they haven't contacted us! And the Doheny campaign is all like, Well they haven't contacted us, either!
And, other than everyone's feelings being hurt, that's all we know about this so far.
