Here's a fascinating chart from the New York Times that shows, for the first time in history, that none of the people who are at the helm of our country are white Protestants.

Not one Supreme Court justice, nor the majority leader in the Senate, the speaker of the House, nor each presidential and vice presidential candidate, falls into the category that had historically dominated the levers of U.S. power.

On the local level, both Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, and Republican Matt Doheny are Catholic. So was Rep. John M. McHugh, R-Pierrepont Manor.

Attached is a map that shows the location of Catholic congregations in the north country as tabulated by the 2010 religion census. They're centered in Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Clinton counties — which are also the major population areas.
