Mary Eppolito Eckstein, a former Clayton resident, is slated to compete in the Ironman U.S. Championship today in New York City.

The race consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run.

Eckstein is entered in the women’s 50-54 age group.
