Onondaga Development LLC will begin environmental remediation today on the former Griff’s convenience store site on Route 12F.

The Alexandria Bay company knocked down the former store in mid-July as part of a project in which Jefferson County will align its corporate park’s Fisher Road entrance with the Salmon Run Mall Road on the opposite side of Route 12F, or outer Coffeen Street.

The county and Onondaga Development, whose principal is P.J. Simao, have been in litigation over the property since 2010, with the county refusing to transfer the title to three adjacent parcels to the company until the cleanup is complete.
