In Ogdensburg, a summer of detours, delays and tried patience is winding down.

And there was, Supervisor Gregg E. Harland said Tuesday, plenty of patience - the public’s - to soften the inconvenience of all those detours and delays. But that high level of public patience and understanding, he added, is there every summer.

“It’s always been good,” Mr. Harland said. “We try and give them (motorists and nearby homeowners) as much notification as we can.”

This summer’s finished projects include the scraping down and repaving of the 1800 block of Knox Street, 800 and 900 blocks of Linden Street, 1800 block of Jay Street and one half of the 700 block of Proctor Avenue.

Next up for repaving, Mr. Harland said, are the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Knox Street. Also, new sidewalks will be put down on Gilbert Street.

On Thursday, sealant will be applied to the surface of New York Avenue.

The city’s yearly street, sidewalk and curbing projects are paid for by annual appropriations from the state’s Consolidated Highway Improvement Program.

This year’s CHIPs subsidy to Ogdensburg is $258,241, according to the city comptroller’s office.
