A former Watertown Y employee was ordered Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to repay $35,580 she stole from the organization while working there as a billing supervisor for an after-school program.
Aimee A. Patton, 32, of 106 Superior St., was also sentenced to five years probation for a June 12 guilty plea to fourth-degree grand larceny. She was accused in February of stealing the money by submitting false entries to the Y that covered up the theft of the money from February to November 2009.
Ms. Patton handled billing for School-Age Child Care, a program for children from kindergarten through sixth grade held at 20 schools in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties. The United Way of Northern New York and Jefferson County Youth Bureau provide financial assistance to parents and guardians who cannot afford program fees.
Ms. Patton, who was hired in June 2008, was terminated from her job after Y officials discovered she was stealing money.
