NORTH LAWRENCE — A Winthrop motorcyclist who hit a deer Monsday night was reported in critical condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Donald J. Bell, 63, suffered head and lower leg injuries when his motorcycle struck a deer in North Lawrence, according to Tri-Town Volunteer Rescue Squad Chief Steve Beatty. Tri-Town sent an ambulance to the scene, and Mr. Bell was airlifted to the Burlington, Vt., facility via helicopter, he said.

Another rider sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention, he said.
