LYONS FALLS Eleanor (Effley) Shue, 84, formerly of Laura Street, widow of Stanley Bear Shue, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Lewis Co. Extended Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since 2010.
Eleanor was born in Croghan, on July 3, 1928, a daughter of Jacob and Minnie Howe Effley. She grew up in Croghan and in Lyons Falls, where she graduated from high school. For many years she was employed as manager of the payroll department at Gould Paper Company, Lyons Falls. On October 27, 1956, Eleanor was united in marriage with Stanley C. Shue at St. Johns Church, Lyons Falls. Mr. Shue, an employee of Gould Paper Co. and Georgia Pacific Paper Co. died on January 18, 2009.
She loved the outdoors; together, Eleanor and Stanley found great pleasure in hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and camping throughout New York State.
Mrs. Shue was a member of St. Johns Church, Lyons Falls. While in high school she was a member of the marching band and later she was a drum majorette for the Lyons Falls Village Marching Band
She is survived by a sister, Virginia Williams, Tallahassee, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Muriel Effley, Margaret Burke and Dorothy Papagillis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a grave side service on Monday, August 6, at 10:30 A.M. at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
