DEXTER - Michael F. Mitchell Sr., age 62 of County Rte 53 Dexter passed away Friday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center after being stung by a bee at home.

Michael was born March 27, 1950 in Watertown the son of Vernon and Ola Yott Mitchell. He attended school at General Brown and entered the Army in 1968 serving in Viet Nam. He was discharged in 1970 as a Sp4.

Mike married Darlene Y. LaMora on November 28, 1970 at the Dexter Presbyterian Church. He was an independent Truck-driver for many years and for the past few years has worked at Ft. Drum at the Range.

Mike was a member of Smith-Savage Post #583 of Dexter and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed working on cars and being with his friends.

He is survived by his wife Darlene and two children; Michael Jr. and Heather Mitchell of Dexter and Tina and Jamie Fulmer of Clayton. Grandchildren Jessie, Paige, and Karlee Mitchell and Taylin, Calie Fulmer, and great granddaughter Sadie Allyn. A brother Steve Mitchell of Lakeport, N.Y. and sisters Sharon and Steve Sagriff of Potsdam,N.Y. and Penny and Darrel Fitzgerald of Dexter and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with brother-in-law Sam LaMora officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Donations may be made to Dexter Fire Dept.
