MASSENA - Massena Public Library Youth Services Librarian Elaine Dunne-Thayer wrapped up another successful summer reading program on Tuesday.

But it will be her last, after the library’s board of trustees voted unanimously during a special meeting to promote her as the new director for the library. Her appointment is effective Monday.

The job has most recently been held by retired Director Paul Schaffer, who was appointed by the Massena Town Board as interim director in June following the resignation of Lynn M. Fountain.

Mr. Schaffer will stay on temporarily to assist Mrs. Dunne-Thayer with the transition into her new role, according to board President Mark Englert.
