OGDENSBURG In spite of a rainy Thursday, the citys Seaway Festival saw a steady stream of carnival goers filtering in and out of the Greenbelt, braving overcast skies and wet rides.
We deal with the weather as its given to us, said Ontario Amusements owner Harold Morley.
Angel M. Maroney said she promised her children they could come to the fair on Thursday rain or shine.
Every other year, its been so hot and sunny, she said as daughter Khloee R. Fraser, 4, climbed on the drenched merry-go-round.
Ken Cohen, who was operating the merry-go-round, said Seaway Festival officials keep the rides going as long as (the rain) isnt too heavy.
Mr. Morley said there were a lot fewer people on the rides Thursday than there were on Wednesday, when the weather was nicer.
The carnival will be operating until 5 p.m. Saturday.
The weekend, according to forecasts by the National Weather Service, looks a bit better than Thursday. A slight chance of thunderstorms today and Saturday may temporarily distract from the events, but Mr. Morley said the rides will go on for as long as possible.
The rides only shut down when your drive surfaces get saturated, something that happens only in severe downpours, he said.
