WATSON A Lowville man was arrested Saturday for allegedly driving recklessly on an all-terrain vehicle back in May.
Lewis County sheriffs deputies charged Michael S. Ielfield, 28, of 5346 Rural Ave., with reckless driving, operating an ATV on a closed road, speed not reasonable or prudent, driving an unregistered and uninsured ATV, failure to display an ATV registration number and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was arraigned in Lowville Village Court and sent to Lewis County jail, Lowville, on $100 bail.
Deputies said they responded May 3 to a complaint of erratic driving by several ATVers on West Shore Road in the town of Watson and witnessed one who fled from them. An area resident took pictures of the driver, assisting deputies with their investigation.
Deputies said Mr. Ielfield also took an orange road cone belonging to the state Department of Transportation during the incident, leading to the stolen-property charge.
