Unsealed indictments in Jefferson County Court allege drug possession, sales

Four people were arraigned Friday in Jefferson County Court on sealed indictments containing allegations they had or sold drugs.

Lee M. Alverson, 34, of 5493 Nutting St., Henderson, faces two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged he sold cocaine in the county in late April and early May.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $20,000 bail.

Steven E. Hamm, 40, Marion, N.C., formerly of Watertown, is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree conspiracy. According to the indictment, he conspired with others to possess heroin with the intent to sell the drug in late September in Watertown. He entered not guilty pleas to the charges and was sent to the PSB on $20,000 bail.

Mr. Hamm was extradited from North Carolina to faces the charges. He was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in state prison in August 2004 for guilty pleas in County Court to fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was charged with selling heroin in January 2004 in Watertown and possessing heroin and an electronic stun gun the same month.

Kenniejo Jones, 35, of 232 W. Main St., is charged with single counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that she had and sold cocaine within the county in late March. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was sent to the PSB on $5,000 bail.

Sean M. Spencer, 24, of 802 West End Ave., Carthage, is charged with four counts each of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that he had and sold steroids within the county in late 2010 and early 2011. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was sent to the PSB on $1,500 bail.
