LOWVILLE A training session for those interested in joining the Lewis County animal response team will be held here today.
The three-hour session will be held at 6 p.m. at Lewis County Search and Rescue, 7782 W. State St. Dinner will be provided.
Those who complete the session and a one-hour online course may join the new team, which would address animal care in the event of an emergency.
Further training on small-animal sheltering and relocation of larger animals also will be scheduled.
County officials, with the assistance of Dr. Deanna Fuller from Countryside Veterinary Clinic, last year developed an animal disaster plan that included establishment of a volunteer response team.
Its a great program, said Lewis County Emergency Services Director James M. Martin.
