FULTON — Dewayne Gordon scored four touchdowns, including an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening play of the game, as the Syracuse Shock defeated the Watertown Red and Black, 38-21, in an Empire Football League game at Fulton High School on Saturday.

Syracuse (1-1) raced out to a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the Shock (1-1) eventually built a 26-7 halftime lead.

“We gave up some big plays and got in a hole early,” Watertown Red and Black head coach George Ashcraft said.

Quarterback Brian Williams tossed touchdown passes of 35 and 21 yards to Jarrun Hilaire for Watertown (1-1).

Running back Joe Brennan scored on an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Watertown’s other score.

The Red and Black will travel to Montreal on Saturday to face the Voyageurs at John Abbott College.
