The Sackets Harbor boys sports program has earned a prestigious award for all-around excellence.
Led by the state Class D champion boys basketball team, the Patriots tied for first place in their class in the New York State Sportswriters Associations All-Sports Championship.
Called the Kerr Cup, in honor of longtime Syracuse Post-Standard sports writer Neil Kerr, the editor and publisher of the NYSSSWA, the award is determined by schools accumulating points for placing in the top eight in their classes in New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship tournaments and meets.
Sackets Harbor finished with 15 points for the 2011-2012 school year, tying for first place in Class D with Syracuse Bishop Ludden, Coleman Catholic from Kingston and Hamilton High School in the Utica area.
