Samaritan Medical Center will host a topping-off ceremony at 4 p.m. today at its senior village construction site at Washington Summit, off outer Washington Street.
A topping-off ceremony is a tradition within the construction industry to mark the moment when the highest point in the building construction has been reached, according to a news release issued Thursday by Samaritan. Before being raised, a beam will be signed by community members and stakeholders.
Samaritan officials also will announce the winning name selected for the 288-bed assisted-living and skilled-nursing senior care campus, after having received dozens of entries during a communitywide naming contest a few weeks ago.
