State Sen. Patty Ritchie handily won the fundraising battle against her Democratic opponent, Oswego County Legislator Amy Tresidder.
Mrs. Ritchie, a freshman Republican of Heuvelton, raised about $87,000 for her re-election campaign. That compares with the $19,000 that Mrs. Tresidder raised.
It's not exactly a surprise; incumbents usually outraise their opponents. And the Republican Senate majority has far outpaced the Democratic minority.
The question becomes whether Democrats in the state Senate — either the Independent Democratic Caucus or the Democratic state Senate campaign, will help Mrs. Tresidder financially. The Dems sank a lot of money into state Sen. Darrel Aubertine's unsuccessful 2010 re-election bid.
Mrs. Ritchie now has $109,000 in the bank, while Mrs. tresidder has $15,760.
