Seaway Festival invites wineries

Every year, the International Seaway Festival draws not only visitors from the surrounding communities, but also from all over the United States. This year the Seaway Festival Committee and the city of Ogdensburg are bringing something new to the 52nd International Seaway Festival.

The festival will begin with the Seaway Festival Wine-n-Craft Show on July 21 and 22 at the Richard Lockwood Civic Center.

Festival and Founder’s Day participants will not only have the opportunity to purchase locally made arts and crafts, but also locally grown vegetables and sample wines from all over northern New York.

The hours for the Wine-n-Craft show and farmer’s market will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 21 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 22. Set-up will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 20.

Committee members said they decided to add a wine tasting to the program after they received several suggestions from past participants.

“Every show grows not only in the number of crafters attending, but also the number of individuals looking for that special gift for a loved one,” said Michele, Morrison, event coordinator. “Every year there is always something new.”

The festivals craft show gives local crafters the opportunity to sell their hand made wares that consist of wooden benches, blankets, jewelry, baby clothes and other novelty items.

The Seaway Festival has between 40 to 50 crafters attending with room for more. Set up time will be July 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. Set-up is on first-come, first-serve basis. Spaces are 10 x 10, and some have power hook-ups. Tables can be provided for $5 each.

Crafters must bring their own chairs. Each crafter must have a New York State Tax License and be responsible for collection of sales tax. A vendor form must be completed by each crafter and submitted to Michele Morrison.
